the envelopes… (titled by Alycia)

- Day 12 -

Today is the day I realized I have a lot more to do then I thought!  Finish making gifts, wrapping, writing clues, baking (not much though), cleaning, packing…  I better get crackin’, huh?  Alycia and I are almost done with the necklaces and are going to start wrapping them up this evening.  I wanted to have something cute for her to use, so today I sat down to make some envelopes.

I used scrapbook paper to make them.  I don’t have a lot of Christmas paper, although I guess I could have used wrapping paper.  Oh, well.. I think they’re adorable… and very easy to make.

Start with a plain ole envelope.  I chose square. (it’s what we had)

I carefully tore it apart at the seams and laid it flat. Next, choose your paper and flip it over so the right side is facing down.

Trace the envelope you just tore apart on to the back of your scrapbook paper.

.. and cut it out.  This is the front of mine, but you still want it to be face down for the next part.

fold the side tabs in

Fold the bottom flap up.  Next you want to glue along the side tabs.  Make sure you take notice of where the bottom flap lays along the side tabs, that way you’re not gluing where you don’t need or want to.

Final step.. fold the top flap down.  I think we are going to use ribbon and a nice gift tag to tie it shut , but you can glue it, tape it or use a sticker.  Fun, fun! : )
