the star of the tree

- Day 11 -

We have a guest blogger today.  My daughter Alycia.  Take it away girlie…

Hi everybody.  I am going to tell you about a project we made in art class yesterday.

It all started when Mrs Fowler said “alright everyone we will be making ornaments for your tree.” I was happy!  So listen close I will only tell you how to make it once. This project can be done with 5 year olds and older.  This is how you make it. First you  get a full sheet of white paper and make 5 perfect circles and cut them out.  To make your perfect circle take a roll of duck tape and trace the inside to get the perfect circle.  Then take any christmas color (red or green)and make one perfect circle .  Next take the white paper and fold them to make a taco then fold your taco in half to make a fortune cookie to crease  it.  Next unfold your cookie so that it is a taco shape again. Then starting on the taco crease, cut along the fortune cookie crease but don’t cut it all the way.  You don’t want to cut it in half.  Slide all the white  paper circles on around the red or green paper until you make a star.  Then punch a hole through the top and put a string through the hole and tie it so that you can hang it on the tree. THERE YOU GO YOU HAVE AN ORNAMENT FOR YOUR TREE.  Thank you for your patience to learn how to make a christmas ornament for your tree.  - Alycia

“Joy to the world, the Lord is come!  Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, and Heaven and nature sing, and Heaven and nature sing, and Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.”  - Isaac Watts

What a cool idea! Might try it with the kids. Good explanation, Alycia! And, I can’t believe Mrs. Fowler is still teaching art at Northeast. She was one of MY art teachers when I went there (which was over 20 years ago), if it’s the same Mrs. Fowler!

Great job, Alycia! The ornament is so cute, I will have to make one! When Olivia is old enough she could make one too. Thanks for sharing. :)
